My internet connection is through my laptops Wi-Fi - a wpa2 connection to the public internet provided by the place that I live. This means that I am connecting to THIER router, wpa2, dynamic address. This laptop also has an Ethernet port.

I also have a desktop machine that has wired net port. I also have a Belkin N150 (F9K100V4) router. What is the best way to share the internet.

Although this is a slow internet connection already, ideally I would like to be able connect to the internet THROUGH the laptops connection and be able copy files between the two machines.

Thank you for your help,

Don

you can share your internet connection by making a portable hotspot on your laptop check that video to make it without programs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_V1D76UZzkc&list=UUGHAfsfb78uXHFU9OBHD6cQ

This desktop is an old gaming machine that I built, and for some reason when I have tried to use wireless, usb, network adapters I get a device driver installation error (this has happened with two devices). Although, neither of these solutions will help me, I would be interested in learning how to make my laptop into a hotspot. :) Thanks for the replies.

Thanks for the answers - my solution was the obvious one; put a wireless network card in the desktop and then just share files via a crossover cable. I have one more question though; my router takes the "incoming" internet connection through a wired Ethernet port and CAN distribute it via wifi (or wired Ethernet), but not the other way - other way meaning internet WIFI IN ----> WIRED OUT. Is there a router like this? As I have mentioned before I connect to the internet via public wifi and I am looking for ways to speed this up. I can currently download at 300 Kbps, which is basically ruled by the fact that the router I connect to is about 250 feet away. I'm thinking that a router such as I have described might be able to get a "stronger" signal connection than what I am currently getting. Thank you.
