Will my system work?

I have been building a PC for some time now, and I just wanted to pose the general question of whether or not the components I have chosen will not only be compatible with each other, but that they will work nicely/smoothly. The system will be used mainly for coding programs, CAD tools, and a little bit of gaming.

I have already:
- 600W corsair PSU
- Gigabyte Z87 mobo
- Western Digital 1TB HDD
- Samsung 250GB EVO SSD
- Radeon 7970 GPU
- my case, which just barely fits everything
- Hyper T2 CPU fan & heatsink

I plan on putting an Intel i7-4970 CPU in, and I'll start with 8GB ram, until the time when I can upgrade it.

Does this sound to everyone like it's going to be okay? What could I do differently? Mind that I am on an ever decreasing budget, hence my lack of a few of the more expensive components.

Looks good, that motherboard is all compatible and you didn't say which 600w Corsair psu but 600w is plenty.

The 7970 is an amazing high end gpu, No need to go more expensive than that for 1080p gaming.

The corsair is CX model, unfortunately not modular, but I'll live. The machine may be used for Autodesk Maya in the future, would you suggest a RAM upgrade prior, or will 8 GB suffice? The tower is a Rosewill mini ATX case, so all of this barely fits as it is.

The Corsair CX model is quite cheap compared to their other models but it will suffice for now.
8 GB'S of RAM is fine for all games but for other programs which you may use 16gb's may be better. 8gb's is the sweet spot for memory right now.
