Hi Guys,

So a friend from work asked me to fix her PC, it wouldn't turn on and said it may have a virus, so I said I'd take a look, turns out its worse, its full of bad sectors, and I cannot repairs them, Ive tried every program out there, Ive been trying to repair it for 8 hours but nothing, its gone, so I tried to format it, couldn't even do that, so this drive is going to the bin.

This PC was purchased from a shop, (it's way out of warranty) but it does have the Windows Vista 64-bit licence sticker on the case with the key... so if I change the HDD but still use the same PC, can I re-install Windows Vista onto the new drive and use the old key?

Would it work...

Many thanks for your help :)

yes as long you use the matching Vista version to the Product Key.

It should work, I have done this with Windows 7 before. As long as the product key isn't OEM then you should have no problem with this.
