hi guys i have just learned that an r9 270x requires a 600 watt psu
i have a cooler master thunder 600 watt psu for the minimum requirements
would the gpu bottleneck it?
and how many power connectors are required for sustaining the card?

Power supplies do not bottleneck GPU's in the sense that is commonly referred to . CPU's can however.
Most people have absolutely no clue how much energy their desktop uses. I guarantee you will never use over 400 watts on your current setup.
As far as the 270x goes I can't help you. If I was going to buy one I would find out.

Well, I think the more accurate term here would be "overload." Bottlenecking simply refers to 'the weakest link' in a chain. :)

In this case, we use the term overload, because each component puts a certain load on the PSU. If there is too large of a load, the PSU is overloaded. This is of course a dangerzone, as you probably know!

So back to the question, will the R9 270X overload a Cooler Master Thunder 600 Watt PSU?
While there are better PSUs out there, the CM Thunder 600 should be able to adequately handle a system with a relatively normal configuration (1 GPU, 1 CPU, 1 HDD, etc.)

However, if you haven't bought the PSU yet, I suggest you look elsewhere. A great budget option is the EVGA 600B.

Also, most R9 270Xs require two 6 pin PCI power plugs. The Thunder 600W has two 6+2 Pin power connectors, so they are compatible.

Depends how many amps on the 12v rail...but you should be fine. I run my HD 7870 OCd and my fx8 core OCd on a 620 watt antec

it says that the psu has 1x 12v power rail
current at dc output of - 12V=0.3A
current at dc output of +12V=47A

yes one rail but how many amps on that 12v rail?

CURRENT AT DC OUTPUT - 12V=0.3 AMPS
CURRENT AT DC OUTPUT + 12V=47 AMPS

This thread is funny. For the OP your PSU is sufficient for your GPU.
You don`t have any problem there.

Yeah clearly it's sufficient I just want OP to understand what really matters in this case. Not wattage of the unit as much as amperage on that 12v rail (as far as gpu is concerned ).

You would have to look up "12v rail requirements for r9 270x" and make sure the psu can handle it.
The r9 270xonly needs 25 amps and 500w PSU. You're way in the clear OP.
