Hi guys, new to the forum.

I recently bought a z97 asrock extreme 4, and I'm using a Intel Core i7-4790K Quad-Core Processor, and 2 G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (16 GB total).

We tried each stick of RAM in all 4 slots individually, and the computer would boot up fine. However, whenever we try any combination of the two, the computer would start, run for like 203 seconds then shut down (nothing would appear on the monitor.) I'm really hoping this isn't a motherboard problem because I don't want to deal with getting a replacement right now. Any suggestions? I've lurked the forums and I noticed there are a lot of derivations of this problem but I would like to see if I can get some help specific here.

Thanks.

check your memory module compatibility here http://www.asrock.com/mb/intel/Z97%20Extreme4/index.asp...

Hey thanks for the response, I'm a little confused by the list (I'm extremely new to this kind of stuff.)

The exact model I'm using is F3-2133C10D-8GXM. However this isn't listed there, only F3-2133C10Q-32GSR and F3-2133C10Q-32GAB. Also what is the different between the 'v' and '2pcs'? It looks like the table is saying my model isn't compatible? But it does work with only one stick.

the "v" and the "2pcs" im also sketchy about it too. but the table is clear on one thing your memory module "F3-2133C10D-8GXM" is not compatible to your motherboard. even if it runs on just one stick "weird things" may happen. that's the side effect of running incompatible memory.

Hey I just found this http://www.gskill.com/en/product/f3-2133c10d-16gxm. It says its compatible with the xtreme 4.
The item code is the 16GXM but if I go to 8GXM page its the 4GB x version that also says it should be compatible. I'm not sure why the asrock website. Any reason?

Run memtest86 to check your ram.

Mobo manufacturers don't keep updating their QVLs. Ram makers do though.

Hey, what exactly am I looking for when I run this program.

Also my UEFI came as P.100, would updating it to 1.30 be a possible fix?

Memtest will check your ram and tell you if there's errors

You mean bios. Have a look at the bios updates and see what the description says. If its something about memory then yeah, do the update.
