My Intel Core I5 2500k has had its stock thermal paste on it for 2 years and ran 36c idle and 50-60c on Arma 2 OA and Battlefield 3/4. But recently I decided to put new thermal paste on. I cleaned the old thermal paste with alcohol 70% and put Artic Silver 5 on. I put a little bit too much and a tiny bit fell on the green part on motherboard. I don't know if it's just because it needs curing or what. It's now running 40-50c idle and 80-90c on Arma 2 OA and 95 on Battlefield 4. Any solutions would be gladly appreciated.

After you applied the new thermal paste, did you correctly seat the CPU cooler back into the motherboard? How did you apply the new thermal paste?

Nevermind, I didn't have the fan facing the top of the motherboard. Now i'm getting 31c idle and I put a dot in the middle but I still think I put a little to much. It doesn't go off the place it needs to be but should most of my CPU be covered with thermal paste after the CPU fan slimmed it down into a layer.
