Hi :)

I think that the general reasons to return a CPU PSU or mobo should be known by all of us. Who can tell us them so that if we buy a component we instantly start taking action?

Thank you.

Depends where you live. In my country I can return an item I bought online within one week without a reason. Some websites accepts returns within the first month. But that's only because they want to. Technically, if it doesn't work as it should, it's a good reason to return it. But I don't think you'll find this in numbers, such as if it doesn't reach a level, you can return it. You should check the RMA policy of the store when you want to buy somthing.

While there are a few things that may show a direct link to problematic hardware, in most cases the cause is not obvious and troubleshooting must be done to isolate the problem area. For instance: Failure to POST, could be the motherboard, could be ram, could be the PSU, could be the CPU, could simply be installation error. The problem lies in that almost all hardware depends upon other hardware to work, those dependencies need to be isolated... which is what troubleshooting does (hopefully)

As someone who works in an electronics store, we'll take returns on any electronic items as long as there is no physical damage. Ive seen people bring back parts because they got the wrong thing, or it didn't fit in their system for some reason, or they changed their mind about it. But I've also seen people bring things back because parts were defective, no POSTing, no booting up, hard drives not starting, fans not working, etc.

As C12Friedman said, theres a lot of troubleshooting that needs to be done to determine a problem and its cause.
