Can't seem to figure out why my CPU is overheating all of a sudden.

Hey guys,

I'd like some help with my CPU problems. The last couple of days my computer has been shutting down out of the blue, I checked the CPU temperature after the shutdowns and it seemed to reach 80-90 degrees celcius!

Now before we go further i've got an:
- AMD FX 6200
- Antec Kuhler h2o 620
- Asrock 990FX Extreme 3
- SAPPHIRE HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB GDDR5

What i've tried
1. I considered it might be a virus so I went and reinstalled windows 8.1 which didn't change anything
2. Bought new cooling paste and removal kit to change the paste on my cpu. (Lowered the temp to 70-75 degrees)
3. Checked if I was somehow overclocking my CPU and even updated my BIOS to be sure that I wasn't.

Before the shutdowns started happening I noticed my PC starting to really slow down, switching tabs in chrome or alt+tabbing from a game. 30ish fps in League of Legends with everything on low settings. I checked the CPU usage in task manager and it seemed not even come close to 100%...

(I don't think its my PSU either since it has been coping fine for 1.5 years and I cleaned it out. It also wouldnt explain why my pc has become so slow, would it?)

Now that i've reinstalled my pc and applied new cooling paste I installed Core Temp so that I could keep an eye on the temperature. Here's the activity while typing this thread. But the frequencies quite often float around 70-80% for a reasonable period.

So i'm kind of stuck here, does any of you have any suggestions on what I could do to fix this? Or am I going to have to buy a new CPU?

Thanks!

That´s a good question, how would I be able to check if it is?

By the way, one tube gets warm and the other is normal temperature. What I did notice is that the part that goes on top of my CPU is getting really hot, as in too hot to touch for more than 1 sec.

Well you can generally hear them pumping. Maybe leave the system powered off for a while, turn it on, and unplug and plug in the pump to see if you can hear the difference.

Pump is right next to the CPU. If it isn't pumping, just the general flow of water would keep it going, but it would run hot. I would expect both pipes to heat up if the pump had stopped, but maybe not if the channel is blocked by the pump.
