Hi all,

As a small intro, I'd like to say that I've never had this problem with my old HD6950 and am quite frustrated that it's happening to me now.

I just built my new PC and am trying to connect it to my TV via HDMI. However, I see no video after turning the PC on. Connecting the card to a monitor via DVI works fine, although it first asks me to enter the BIOS (only the first time after having tried the HDMI & TV combination).

I use an Intel i7-4790k on a Asus Maximus VII Hero with an R9 290 video card.

Any and all help is much appreciated!

Does your T.V. have a PC input?, if it does use that (even if VGA). Some cards (especially newer ones) don't always and aren't guaranteed to work straight through HDMI.

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a bad HDMI cable, its worth trying another

Thanks for all the answers so far! I have tried switching the cable and unfortunately that isn't it. I'm definitely looking at the correct input as well.

As for what unknownforprob mentioned, that sounds like it could be it. Do you know of a way to check if my card falls in that category?

Never heard of that. That does not mean it is not correct.

there is no way to check it as is comes down to many factors, even suppliers. This is not guaranteed to work but it is worth a try. If it doesn't work I'll come up with other suggestions.
