I formatted my Seagate 2TB external HD to work on both mac and PC. It's reading and writing fine on my macbook, however, when I plug into my mac pro tower, I am only able to "read". The info on my mac pro, tells me that the hard drive is NTFS (windows) formatted.

Any thoughts? I'd hate to wipe the drive to reformat, as I have over 600GB of work on the drive.

For starters, you implied you don't have a backup. Make one - you should always have backups.

There might be a way to force it to mount it read-write, or a newer version of the OS might help. Not sure.

This is a very common question. There is a sticky about it at the head of this forum. Look at the fifth topic.
