Hiya,

I have a PC with a SAPPHIRE AMD FirePro™ W9000 with with 6 outputs, but it requires 1x6 pin and 1x8 pin into the card. There is only a 1x6 pin available coming from the PSU, and potentially another 1x6 pin but I would have to remove a fan which I want to avoid.

Is this viable and safe, or should I probably try and get a new PSU. The card reccomends a 750w PSU and the machine has an 800w, however it also has a lot of other internals to power.

Thanks in advance,

George

I would get a new PSU to properly power your card.

What kind of PSU do you have. Splitting might be an option depending on your PSU. The card will not take 750w. I think your 800w should be fine.

I can't find the exact model but the specs sheet say it's an 800W 90% Efficient wide-ranging, with active Power Factor Correction

If it was me I would split. I run dual 6950's. Both take 2x 6-pin connectors. I run a 2 splitter's (one for each card). Have never had any problems.
