http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=14-130-...
currently on sale for 359.99 after rebate + free borderlands pre-sequel
EDIT: Just checked and it looks like most all of the different 780 cards have similar deals, so it's not limited to this one.

or any other 970, this one just caught my eye because I currently use Gigabyte.

Upgrading from a GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost Windforce 2X OC Edition
Other specs:
i5 3570K Processor
asrock mobo (can't check exact one at the moment)
8 gb ram
2560x1440 display

I'm wonder which one I should should upgrade to, I could snag the 780 right now for a decent deal with a free copy of borderlands. I was going to get borderlands anyway so I consider that another 40 or 50 dollars off.
I was going to wait for Black Friday deals to see if i could get the new 900 series at a lower price, or at least get it once the one I want is back in stock.

they both seem good for the price, but I was wondering if the 970 series is worth the extra couple $$ in the long run.

970 is on par with a titan, and you can overclock the crap out of the gigabyte version. So get the 970

The 970's will increase in performance over time, because the future updates for the diver will give beret optimization towards games, therefore increasing fps. The 780 got that a long tinge ago, so there is no room for improvement there, but the 970 just came out, so, much can happen in the next year to increase performance

The 970 also has 1gb extra vram over the 780, so that will help on high resolutions

The Maxwell architecture was released half a year ago, so drivers have already had time to mature.

The 970 is a more powerful card and can easily be overclocked to/above 780 ti levels as well as having an extra gig of VRAM. The 970 also has access to the new features, HDMI 2.0, and hardware support for full DirectX 12 not just 11.3. In the long run the 970 will be a better buy.
