My mother board only has two available slots for fans. I'm afraid my system has been overheating because around an hour of playing it starts lagging. So what I think I need is a fan control device so I can fit some extra fans into my case, the problem is the ones I look at have bad reviews, so I was hoping you guys knew some good ones. (Or perhaps an alternative device)If you need information about the fans I'll be hooking up into it let me know.

Do you know if either do 2500RPM? some of the ones I looked at could on put out 500RPM, also, what is the cable for the second link? Would I need to buy anything else to plug that in? (I'm sorry for the probably newb questions.)

They do whatever the fan is rated at but at 2500 rpm, I'd want the PC to be in the next room....that's gonna be loud .... here's what (2) 2700 rpm fans sound like. Play the H100i video

I use 1200 rpm fans and the Phanteks controls them from a minimum of 325 rpm to a max of 850 rpm.

You need to determine if the fan headers are PWM or DC voltage

3 pin headers are DC

4 pin headers are either PWM or DC .... If yur MoBo is a year old or more, it's a perty safe bed that ONLY the CPU and CPU_OPT headers are PWM. Z97 generally has two PWM headers and several 4 - 6 headers that can work as PWM or DC

If you only have two or three headers, again it's a pretty safe bet that the only PWM header is running your CPU fan, leaving the others as DC.

Your MoBo headers can only handle up to one amp..... if you were to connect say 8 fans, you would definitely exceed 1 amp.... the cable, as indicated in the picture is a SATA Power cable connected to the PSU to provide power so your header doesn't burn out.

I'd get the phanteks one, it don't care whether your header is PWM or DC ... with 4 -6 fans rated at 0.14 amps each you'd have no problem and don't need the power cable. 3 pin DC fans are also a lot cheaper than PWM and they don't give ya that PWM hum at low speeds.

These outperform the Noctua's and any other fan on the market based upon performance / noise ratio and are $10 ... the Noc PWMs are $27
