Random pc crash?

Hello,
in December last year I made my first custom built gaming pc. It all went swimmingly and everything has been running like clockwork until very recently. I decided to enjoy a bit of nostalgia and purchased a months runescape membership.I was playing just fine until one day I came on and it lagged really badly when I first logged on and then it crashed/froze permanently. I restarted and it did this a couple of times. I ran a cc cleaner, deleted a load of unused stuff and checked for viruses and the such, it came up clean and runescape started running just fine again. Since then I had a few odd crashes but nothing frequent, so it didn't bother me, until the other day when I was playing smite and it crashed mid league game causing me to lose the game which had been neck and neck for a good 45 minutes, I was annoyed to say the least. So I did as one of my friends suggested and updated the drivers and BIOS of my mobo, as well as check my ram using the windows ram checker thing, it all went fine. I figured that may have fixed the problem but as I loaded up smite and loaded up toms hardware in the background to ask this very question in case it hadn't helped, my pc crashed again. I then repeated what I did and it crashed again, it seemed to be when loading something else up when smite was in the background loading that caused it.However, all my other crashes haven't always been smite related, but I digress. Id just like any help or tips from you guys. Is it a component that's bust? have I picked up a virus or something when torrenting? (which admittedly I have done a decent amount) any help would be appreciated. Just did the good old take out the gpu and put it back in trick and ill see how that goes.
PC specs:
Motherboard:asus h81m-E
GPU:asus NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660
CPU:Intel core i5 4440
PSU:coolermaster B600
Ram: KIngston hyperx DDR3 1600MHz Cl9 8 gb
Hard Drive: Seagate 1tb barracuda
Thanks for any help

Assuming that isn't a typo (only the Coolermaster "V" series are made by Seasonic), your PSU may have opted for early retirement, as the brand is generally [very] low quality when it comes to PSUs.
Otherwise, who knows what you may have picked up while torrenting. You should have quality anti-virus software, and best of all, avoid any/all potentially illegal content.

Hi,

Download coretemp/realtemp or hwmonitor to check you CPU temps and msi afterburner to check your gpu temperatures.
If it's all fine, you might want to download adwcleaner / rogue killer and malwarebytes.

If you find infection run hitman pro and combofix.

The problem with viruses in torrent is some are custom made and could be undetectable and really nasty.
You might want to check for rootkits and mbr infection.

I had a friend that downloaded x-com torrent and every time he installed it. No sign of virus but after a week he would have to reinstall windows because sometime windows would boot some other times not and it was always getting worse and worse.
We could never detect the virus. But when I told him not to reinstall the game, his computer is running fine since then.

No man its definitely a b600 by coolermaster? still got the box so a bit weird :s is it normal for a 6oo watt PSU to die that quick or cause these kind of crashes? and I have avast and avg is that okay? yeah its mostly just been music the odd film and game

I have afterburner and the GPU monitor that came with my GPU, the graphics card temperatures are fairly normal as far as I can tell but ill check the CPU.I have avast and AVG would that be enough to root out one of these viruses? Are viruses capable of just making it so that your pc randomly freezes up and crashes like this? Yeah ive downloaded a few games and that does seem like it could be a possibility, should I download all those things you suggested then?
thanks

Another option would be to check out your event logs in 'Event Viewer'? I would start off looking at the events under 'Custom Views -> Administrative Events' around the time of crash and work your way from there.

This may help you narrow down the issue or provide more specifics that can help us.

Just my 2 cents.

Normally we wouldn't recommend running/have installed more than 1 antivirus on a PC at a time (ie. AVG and Avast)

In response to can a virus cause your PC to freeze/crash 'randomly'? Yes, most definitely. It could range from malicious damage to doing something that conflicts with another program or process running at the same time.

Is that the most likely reason? I haven't crashed since I pulled the gpu out and put it back in but the crashes have been sporadic mostly

I paid almost 60 pound for it from a pc shop in sunderland called falcon computers, I was under the impression it was of a good quality?

Unfortunately, a lot of people mistakenly attribute a brand name to quality. Coolermaster isn't down there with PSU-shaped objects like Apevia, Logisys, and Diablotek, but with few exceptions, their PSUs are low quality, and tend to fail competent technical reviews. Their Seasonic-built V series is a notable exception.
