This is my first time building a pc and I'm just trying to get the right parts first. I plan on getting an Intel Core i7-4790K Processor and EVGA GeForce GTX780. I haven't decided on RAM yet. I want to know what motherboard would be compatible with these components?

My budget is about $1200 - $1400. I might be able to stretch it to $1500 if necessary. I just want a pc that game play most of the latest games at high or ultra settings. Please give mean any suggestions on different CPU or graphics cards. I really don't know much about building a gaming pc, so any help would be great.

A GTX 970/980 might be a better option. The 970 won't necessarily outperform the 780, but it will offer similar performance while using less power; the 980 has trumped the 780 in pretty much all benchmarks.

As for the motherboard, any LGA 1150 board with overclock support will do. I believe the product/model ID for those kinds of boards usually begins with Z97.
