Hi, Ive run a bunch of benchmark on tomb raider with different settings,

Ultimate preset: 120 avg fps 99% gpu usage
Ultra preset: 189 avg fps 99 % gpu usage
High preset: 258 avg fps 99% gpu usage
Low preset: 329 avg fps 50 % gpu usage

Im running 2 7970s with a i5 2500k @ 4.5, I was wondering if this was a bottleneck or this is normal that the gpu usage is lower when lowering the settings to the minimum or what is the right way to determine a cpu bottleneck

ctrl alt delete and hit the performance tab after running the low preset again. Check to see CPU usage. If you are maxed out, that is where the CPU bottlenecks

Hi thanks for your reply, Ive run 2 test, 1 at low preset and the other at high, at low I was at 100% cpu usage all way and 50-60 gpu and at high 99% gpu and 80-95 cpu usage, so it means there is a bottleneck ?

EDIT: ive run a test without crossfire, the single gpu was 99% and cpu 80 so it means that theres no bottleneck for 1 7970 with the i5 2500k @ 4.5 but with 2, there is actually a bottleneck right ?

I tried to play in game at low settings with 1 gpu, 50 % gpu and 80 cpu, does it mean there is also a bottlenekc with 1 card or.. this is the game or the card dont need the 99% usage to run at low settings I dont really understand, wanna make sure to not upgrade my motherboard to get a new cpu for nothing

When running crossfire, on low settings, your GPU is hitting 50-60 and cpu 99, that is a cpu bottleneck. On high, with 80-90% CPU,99%GPU is just the GPU reaching its limits.

playing on low settings when the GPU is @ 50% and 80% CPU, do you have VSync on? That would cause the low GPU usage.

sounds good enjoy. You will need to get a new windows license. If you are reusing current hard drive, use SYSPREP and generalize/OOBE to get rid of all old drivers.

Are you planning on reinstalling windows? When u do, it will require a new license. The old one wont work with new motherboard
