HELP!!! Big Audio Problem

Hi so i have got a big problem i have recently got windows 7 ultimate and my audio has just got a red cross next to it when i click on it it just takes me the the troubleshoot page and tells me the plug in my speakers but they are already plugged into the monitor and before the speakers worked fine plugged into the monitor i would get a output from them but i dont now, i have installed drivers, been on to device management i just have no idea what i am meant to do please someone help me!!!

Audio jacks are them green ports. If your not using them then it must be hdmi. If you are using hdmi then select hdmi as the default audio device.

Is your monitor's sound cable plugged into the green audio port on your tower? I'm assuming you're not using HDMI, but just DVI and the monitor likely has a separate cable for sound.

There's really no reason to plug your speakers into your monitor if the speaker cable can reach the ports on your tower, but to each his own.
