Hello everyone,
I have a small doubt.
Would a 650 W PSU (Hale 82 Modular 650W) be enough for 970 SLI?
This PSU has 53A on the 12V Rail, and is 80+ Bronze rated (Tier 2a).

Other components are:
i5-4690k + Hyper 212 (so not very overclocked)
2x4gb DDR3 G-skill sniper 2400MT/s
WD Blue 1TB

By the way, it would be 2xReference 970, so won't be overclocked.

So, would this PSU support 970 SLI?

650 watts would be a bit small, but after all, Newegg managed to boot a system they build with a 780 or a 780 Ti on only 600 watts...
I would say that 650 watts is the ABSOLUTE limit.

650W should definitely work but you may run into some slight problems although they would not be too major.

Thanks for your replies!

That is at the same time nice to hear and worrying D:

I'm going to keep investigating, until I'm sure of what I'll do.

Thanks!

2X 970s will take 290W. This leaves you with a huve 360W for the rest of the system!

A 290X will peak at 290W load.... So yes a 970 will be fine on a 650W supply as long as it is a decent quality one.

I thought the same, but the problem is that in Tom's review, the cards showed that they could take a lot more power under some circumstances... Would it be risky if I had 2 card, and at some graphically intensive moment both wanted full power?

Meh.. I'd go for 750 watts for headroom.

Where I live, It's really hard to find a good quality 750W PSU.
A good quality 850W PSU costs from $185 (XFX PRO 850W, core edition, non modular) to $200 (Seasonic gold modular).
A 520W (Seasonic S12ii-520, semi-modular) costs about $160.
I had the chance of getting the 650W NZXT one for about $95, which was a lot cheaper, but I don't think it would be worth it if I will have to upgrade the PSU again in the future...
