Hello,

apologize for my poor English but any help would be appreciated.

I created a new build and those are the components:
Intel 4930K
MB asus P9X79 WS
Evga PSU 220 P2 1000
SSD Samsung 840 pro series
Mem 16Gig G skill
Corsair water cooling 100i
seagate hard drive 2 tera
VGA GTX 780

I make it run and it was working perfectly fine for 4 days, I had it grounded and I followed all the warnings and I was very very careful. I have my Mobo grounded properly at exactly those 9 screws and I was wearing gloves when I did everything, I test the motherboard on the paper box that it came etc.... I did NOT even try to overclock it or anything like that. I have the Bios at default settings.

I only used the basic peripherals, mouse, keyboard and small monitors on it.
Because I mess up with the windows installation and the SSD, basically i had my SSD saved as MBR instead of GPT until I figure that out it took me 2 days, anyway the system was restarting multiple times but everything was running smoothly and fast, the temperatures were perfect, not above 40C in any case whatsoever and very very quiet.

So today I saw a small spark, I close the system right away and unplug it, I replug it and it did 3 small sparks in a second and I close it right away. In the beginning I thought it was the power but I use a power surge protector, then I thought it was the power supply and then I realize it was the motherboard because it has a burning color right above at the Digital audio Connector 4-1 pin SPDIF_OUT and next to IEEE 1394a port connector there is a small thingy which I don;t know how to name it, but it looks burned.
I have absolutely nothing at the audio connector and at the 1394 connector I have the module that came with my box.

The system doesn't open whatsoever, it is dead, it might be of static buildup but I don't want to try on my own anything until a tech comes tomorrow.

So Im trying to contact asus, they have me on hold and they hand up on me 3 times already...
But hopefully one day I will talk to them...but until that happens my questions are:

1. Why would that thing over there get burned? I really didn't connect anything only the module next to that port which I haven't used at all.
2. There are absolutely no burning near my graphic card or processor, until I test them if they work, is there any chance that they might got destroyed or burned?

please any help or information will be appreciated.

Thanks

Update: after I talk with an Asus tech support.

they told me the power supply might gave more power than the motherboard could handle. But with my simple mind Im thinking, would 1000 w without having 2 graphic cards might cause in 4 days for that little area to get burned?
and what if I had 2 graphic cards? what if I wasn't playing any games for a week and just do simple tasks? would the mother board get burned? so people who have 2 graphic cards they only use their PC everyday to play non stop? or else goodbye motherboard?

I apologize for my huge ignorance and I understand for many people I might sound stupid, but please I am open to any explanation.

also to make it clear:
I bought the 1000W Evga platinum because I was planning to add one more graphic card in the future. Supposedly it's a high end power supply.....I check the MObo cables that are connected to the power supply, there is nothing burned over there or anything weird, nothing that would indicate anything of too much power or something like that.

also, there weren't any little cables going through that area or anything else that could make it burn. I will take some pictures tomorrow and upload them to see how my rig looks like and get opinions.
