Hi im making a gaming rig i overclock but not much, mostly i do gaming.
Is this build good?
And yes i know its overkill but i want to last a long time.

PSU is low quality. replace with antec, XFX, Seasonic.

Get an i7 4790k, not the one you have. There is no real difference in gaming performance and you are wasting $750 for nothing. You selected a workstation CPU.

Yeah, you have no need for x99 for a gaming computer, at all. TOTAL waste of money.

It is not meant for gaming. It is meant for workstation PCs.

The performance would bw like $1000 rig ! A lot of useless things . Save your money , the performance would be not much more than a $1000 rig . 16GB are 16GB ! 1866MHz is the optimal case . i am not a fan of SLI and Crossfire but some would SLI GTX 970 .

Jeepers, when I saw someone mention the 4 grand figure, I assumed there would triple sli 980s. Only one seems like incredibly poor allocation of cash.

Motherboard is WAY overkill. You'll get the same performance out of a $160 board. You said you aren't overclocking that much anyway.

This build is starting to look better though.

Change the PSU as I said in my first post and it will be a solid gaming machine.

SOME of Corsair PSUs are good, other are low quality junk. The RM750 and RM850 are barely average quality units.

Get an XFX750.

I would buy a wireless card, NOT get a board with it. You can upgrade a wireless card, but you cannot upgrade one physically part of a motherboard when it gets old.

You do not need than many fans. More fans DOES NOT mean a cooler computer. You need proper flow of air, not air blowing every which way.
