460W good enough for GTX 970?

Thinking about upgrading my video card. I've had the one in my signature since mid-2012 and I'm finding it a bit lacking. I have a reference cooler 7870 because I'm an idiot and I got it cheap, so it overheats if I run anything too demanding on less than 70%-ish fan speed, which is like jet engine loud.

I'm a bit out of the loop hardware-wise these days. Haven't really been paying attention since 2012, but I keep hearing about the 970 and it's TDP is like 170W, which should work in my system since the 7870 is 175W? And does it just use 2 six-pins?

Thanks.

Depends which exact model you get as to what pins you'll need, but as long as your PSU delivers at least 400W of clean power you'll be fine. :)

If you have decent 500w you can run a 970.

Have your 970s arrived yet? If so, how are they?
I'm still regretting not getting the Strix while I could, please tell me the MSIs are amazing, hahah.
I thought it'd be arriving today but it's still in another state :'(

Try using http://pcpartpicker.com/ and add all your components in and check what is the wattage it uses. Then multiply it by %30 and then sum it with the original wattage and that's will be a great power supply to go with. Example 230w x .3 = 69 and then add it to the 230w =299w that mean i should use 299w power supply or higher

I mentioned it in the thread title but forgot to say in the actual post. It's just 460W. I could get info on the specific voltages and stuff if it would help.

Ehh, I'll probably just wait a few more years and build a whole new one then. I'll probably get insta-banned for saying this, but I've mostly been playing console recently as myself and six or seven of my IRL friends got PS4s when they came out.
