Case: Arc Midi R2
CPU: AMD FX-8350
Motherboard: Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
RAM: G-Skill X Series Ripjaws 2x8GB 1866 Mhz

Room temperature: Between 20-25 Celcius. My room is hotter when it's hotter outside, and cooler when it's cooler outside, as it's right on top of the uninsulated garage with the sun facing them in the evenings.

I've still got the FX-8350 stock cooler on. The only reason that I'm holding off on installing the NH-D14 right now, is because during the summer when it's 30-35 degrees Celcius outside, it's usually a little bit hotter in my room during the day time. This has me seriously considering water-cooling (or whatever else), which is where I need all your help!

My biggest priority is cooling effectiveness, with quietness being the second priority. This system will be running 24/7, and will be used for day-trading as well as gaming. I also intend to OC. How far I OC depends on temperatures. Duh, I guess.

The NH-D14 is currently in the box, and the Glacer 240L seems to be an awesome AIO water-cooler. I especially like the Glacer because of its potential to expand/upgrade, and the lack of maintenance for at least a few years. Being a total noob at this (this is my first ever build), the least maintenance required, the better!

If any more information is required, just ask! Thanks for reading!

Always remember, with either air or liquid cooling, ambient air temperature is going to be your limiting factor. You cannot cool lower than ambient room temp with either solution. So, ambient temps are going to baseline your cooling delta.

Is there another cooling method that would bypass the ambient temperature limit?

Chilled watercooling via TEC or compressor, liquid nitrogen or CO2. All of which are going to take a lot of time, research and testing as they aren't really plug and play methods. Air and traditional water/liquid cooling will not allow you to cool lower than ambient.

Thanks for the information.

Those other options are far too excessive for me.

Given the room temperatures, would you suggest just going with the NH-D14 or is there an equal/better quality plug and play liquid-cooler for a novice like me?

I know a lot of people like the Noctua and Corsair liquid cooling, but if you are considering something in that range, you might consider the Swiftech H220-X or some of their other compact offerings. Even entry watercooling kits from XSPC are quite simple to assemble and setup, but then again, I'm a watercooling guy, so I tend to sway that direction rather than air cooling if you are in the $100+ budget neighborhood.

I'm going to do some more research on the Swiftech H220-X. I'll likely end up giving it a try.

Do you think that a case without a windowed side panel would be an issue for a liquid cooling setup?

No, the window isn't doing anything other than allowing you to see inside your case. Airflow and ventilation are your friend, especially with watercooling because you still need good airflow via case fans to move air over components that would otherwise benefit from CPU cooler air circulation.

What are the best case fans available for performance and silence? Both 140mm and 120mm please.
