Will a V8 GTS fit in a Corsair Carbide Air 540 Case? Specs say that it supports CPU coolers up to 170mm in height. While the V8 GTS is about 166mm high, I've heard some people say that it doesn't fit in the Corsair 300R, which is also advertised by Corsair as having a clearance of 170mm. Some say that it will fit without side panel fans, some say that it won't fit period. Haven't found anyone who's actually tried to use the two together.

Does anyone know if the V8 GTS will fit in the Corsair Carbide Air 540?

The V8 is garbage. Get an NH-D14 or PH-TC14PE

If you want a very cool looking CPU cooler, then get the V8 GTS .... if you watt one that does a great job cooling your CPU, get something else.

Great ($60 - $75) = Phanteks PH-TC14-PE (great aestehtics too), Thermalright Silver Arrow or Noctua DH-14
Better than Great ($80 - $100) = Cryorig R1 Ultimate / Noctua DH-15
Ultimate ($140) = Swiftec h220-X

While I thank you for your advice, that's not exactly what I asked. Will this "garbage" fit in a Corsair Carbide Air 540 Case? The specs say they should, but I've heard that 170mm doesn't always mean 170mm.

Like most people (I'm assuming) who choose the V8 GTS, I chose it almost purely for the aesthetics. I'm aware of the many cheaper, more efficient, and yet, uglier (in my opinion) options.

Anyway, back on topic, does anyone know if it will fit in an Air 540 Case?

Because of the performance issues, the cooler isn't very popular. The best information source for you will likely be the manufacturer's web sites which it would appear you have already collected.:

Quote:
Maximum CPU Cooler Height = 170mm

Quote:
Dimensions (LxWxH) 154 x 149.8 x 166.5mm (6.1 x 5.9 x 6.6 in)

I did have a user who wanted one put in a 500R .... Don't recall any issues installing it. He changed it to something else but I don't recall what. Might wanna track down Tradesman her eon the forums .... he's the only other person I know who has / had one.

It should fit fine. I've seen people shove PH-TC14PE's in their Air 540s with no problems and the PH-TC14PE is taller than the V8 (171mm)
