Hi I have just upgraded to 3 monitors after having two for just over a year.

I am currently using an PowerColor AMD Radeon HD7870 2G graphics card and have the two DVI spots filled with my other two monitors and am using 1 of the 2 mini display ports for the 3rd monitor.

When I plug in my 3rd monitor it says there is no signal and my PC recognised it as a "Mobile PC Display" even tho the monitor is the same as my other two, and has a max resolution of 1920 x 1080. I cannot see anything on the 3rd monitor, it is just black (like I said says no signal). As far as I know I have already installed the drivers for the monitor. I also get a message everytime I plug it in saying "The system has detected a link failure and cannot set the requested resolution and refresh rate on your DisplayPort display. Your display might not support the requested resolution or there may be an issue with the cable connecting the display to your computer".

Any help will be appreciated and hopefully I can fix this problem! Thanks!

Solution
This is the right type of adapter.
I would try connecting just this adapter with a single monitor attached and power on the machine.
If this doesn't work, the adapter could be faulty.

I am using 1920 x 1080 for the other two monitors and also the 3rd one seems to be stuck at 680 x 480 resolution and won't let me change it to anything above. And yes sorry I am fairly new to this website so not that confident with the functionalty, thanks

thanks, I tried that and the monitor still says no signal, and the system link failure message pops up again when i plug back in the other monitors, i'm guessing this means the adapter is faulty?
