Hi all,

We purchased the radeon 7970 vapor x 1.5 years ago and it stopped working. It's under 2 years warranty but Athlon Micro will not honor because they said screws are oxidized. Any recommendations?

Thanks

The card has already gone back to the manufacture. Athlon micro handles all RMA service for sapphire in the US.

the only one who can help you is athlon micro. I had zero problems with them and if the card is physically damaged its not a manufacturing defect and not covered. Oxidized screws sounds odd but you know if you damaged it or used it in a high humidity environment.

Ask why its being denied specifically and ask for pics of the damage that is not just screws.

Call and complain/ask for a manager. Or talk to the sapphire customer support instead of the service center. Same as with any other warranty that's not honored.

Ask them if you can pay for the repair.

Buy a new GPU.

Yep, I'm doing this all through Athlon and they said factory denied it. They're now saying it probably had to do with using the air spray cleaner we were using. I guess we're screwed.

What kind of spray cleaner did you use? You should only use compressed air to clean things like dust.

They do not make the 7970 Vapor-X and they are very hard to find new. Go for the R9 280X Vapor-X instead, that is the next gen model and almost a 7970Ghz, but the same chip though.

Yeah, we used compressed air. They claim that we must have kept on one area of the card too long to create moisture.

next time wipe the card when you have finished before using it. Also what do you need answering as of now?
