I have Windows 8.1.
I have been getting a blue screen after completing Windows Updates... "CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED."
(I realise that the obvious reason for this BSOD coming up is that a critical windows process has died, but I'm not sure why, how or what it is that is dying).
The updates seem to complete successfully, but as soon as the computer restarts it gets stuck at the windows boot splash and then says "Preparing Automatic Recovery". Automatic recovery never seems to work and so I am greeted with a screen telling me that "Windows was unable to start"...

Every time I try to restart it gives me the same problem.. so I got into advanced boot options and I did a system restore to the time before the updates were installed, and this rectifies the problem. However, every single time I try to install the updates I have to go through the same problem.

(I have actually had this problem for a while, I had to reinstall windows a few weeks ago for another reason and "BEFORE THAT" this same problem was occurring. I am now using my "NEW" installation of windows and the same problem is occurring. I have also tried doing refreshes and restores as per the "Advanced Boot Menu").

I have since turned off automatic updates to avoid this issue, but realise that this is not a permanent/proper solution... So I was wondering if anyone knew of a bug in one of the updates that could be causing this or any other issue? Has anyone had the same experience?

The following is an image of the "BlueScreenView" program, which was able to interpret the dump file that was created. http://imgur.com/xYEYFQI

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
