Hello ,

I want to update my wireless driver with a new version. I install it through device manager then "Windows determined the driver software for your device is up to date" came. i think i got the newer version to install. but why windows resist it ?

http://prntscr.com/4qetyk

So i run computer management as admin to get to device manager to update my wireless.
I select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" then i got message "the installation of this device is forbidden by system policy"

http://prntscr.com/4qev69

I don't know what to do next , Help me please
Thanks

Do you own this computer / is it yours?

It sounds like someone has locked some of it down. If you own it, you would have done it / you would know how to remove it

It sounds like the driver you're using isn't signed. Where did you get it from?

EDIT: Did you give it a full format and reinstall, or does it still have all their lockdowns in it?

So they didnt remove the restrictions. Did they give you a DVD you could format it with? I would take it back and get someone to remove the restrictions. Or format it

It's still locked by the school . Take it back and get them to remove the restrictions or format it

Says it's unofficial. I wouldn't get drivers from anywhere but the official site - too easy for them to have been modified to contain a virus, or cause them to be unstable.

Chances are the default drivers are fine.

Well if you brought it off the school they would have used it. And locked features in it. With group policy.

What youre trying to do is one of them. Restricted from updating drivers

Schools typically don't let students have admin rights on their computers. He's saying that you're just a normal user on the PC, and it still has the school's restrictive Group Policy to prevent misuse.

EDIT: What makes you think there's an updated driver? Unless there's a bug, it's pretty rare for things like WiFi cards to get new drivers.

Its NOT going to work. Someone at the school when it was there locked it. So no matter where u go its not going to work

So you'll have to take it back to the school or format it to fix it

@Paul, he said he bought it for school, not from school.

Windows, by default, will not allow to install unsigned drivers without rebooting, hitting F8, and turning it on. I would not do this for drivers from anywhere but an unimpeachable source, though.

Well theres something wrong with it then if things are restricted in it. Take it back to the store then. But there shouldnt be any restrictions on it if you formatted it

Read the second part of my comment. Unsigned drivers. Unless you're doing something shady or with very rare hardware, you shouldn't have to encounter them.

It looks like this prob can also be caused by a windows installer entry in the registry..Its wrong
