Yes i know its a little out of date but its worked fine until recently. I went to start it up and it make its start up sound, my laptop (tried on my desktop too same issue) made the little beeping like sound to tell me something has been connected...only that's as far as it goes. It almost sounds like the gears are turning (so to speak) but cant fully connect. It has power and the laptop makes the disconnecting noise when the external drive is turned off but still nothing. It sounds as if its booting up then just drops off and starts over...help?

Hi Deimon. Even though it is powered up it still could be not enough due to a faulty USB cable. I'd recommend that you try it with different USB cables, but remember it should be 12" or shorter. If it's a power issue, the external enclosure might have failed as well. In the worst case scenario - your drive might be failing itself. Does it make any kind of unusual noises when it's connected? If nothing works for you and you have important files on it, I'd recommend that you go with a data recovery company.

Like i said before the laptop recognizes something is being connected and disconnected when the drive is turned on and off so i don't think its the usb, unfortunately i think it is something on the inside cause it sounds like a car engine being revved instead of revved then go
