According to the majority of the reviews:
MSI is the quietest, with the best OCing potential while being very cool - best card IMO.
GB is very quiet, very OCable and very cool - all rounder, but very long too.
Asus is very quiet and very cool but not as good of an OCer as the above two - good overall card.
EVGA is fine but noisy and the cooling is flawed by design - Don't get unless you can wait for ACX 2.0's release.
Any of the first 3 are great cards. My choice is MSI.

MSI all day long it looks amazing, Its the best performer out of the box I believe most reviews will tell you that plus its got the best cooler out of the lot. Also with MSI Gaming App you can apply a Warranty safe OC mode which is pretty awesome. Not to mention its overclock ability because of its 8 pin option means you can top the 780ti and even compete with the 980 in some cases. Enjoy which ever you get :)

P.s. The no spinning fans at 50c or less is pretty cool too lol

I typically lean towards the EVGA one because I am an EVGA fanboy and I like their design and RMA. However, I have to agree with Quinnsten as the MSI Gaming as well as the MSI normal cards are good overclockers and they have a beast of a cooler though I personally don't like the looks. Bottom line - EVGA for warranty - MSI for performance - Asus for looks (personal opinion) - Gigabyte no idea as I've never used a Gigabyte card :p

Actually evga has the best cooler out there and no they are not loud at all. I own 2 of the 780ti's classifieds on the acx 1.0 cooler and my 200mm case fans are louder than my gpu fans. The new acx 2.0 uses better motor and fan designs so they cool even better. Also evga uses Samsung memory so they overclock like a boss. Asus Msi and gigabyte are all great cards but I think evga is only one that offers multiple bios' for overclocking and tweaking also so if you brick one bios you just load up another then flash the bricked bios. That's a really important feature if you overclock and tweak a lot. I will hand it to Msi though their cooler is top notch and the fans spinning backwards at start up to remove built up dust is pretty damn cool.

I have had Evga in the past and have had friends with evga also my 3rd off last card was a EVGA 4GB 670 Super Overclocked and it suffered from horrible coil whine at high fps and also my friends 780ti was EVGA and that also suffered from really bad coil whine at high fps mind I can not speak for them now but my experiences are the cards have been really good but being a bit picky with new hardware the whine at high fps really bothered me. Maybe it wouldn't someone else tbh this was mainly during stress testing in which you would normally never reach this during normal gaming sessions. Like I say maybe its just me but it really gets to me lol. I havnt really gave them a chance since but everything I have read at the moment the MSI is the overall dominator of the 970's

The coil whine has nothing to do with fps first off and second the coil whine goes away. It's cause from a heavy load being put on the card and it's the power the card is drawing that causes it. One of my 780ti's did it for about a week but it went away after a few stress tests and some gaming. Coil whine plagues other manufacturers as well like asus Msi and gigabyte. It's not just evga.

I have only experienced it with EVGA if I am honest and I always stress test my cards when I get them and check the score in 3DMark and other benchmark tools just to see the upgrade and also to be able to send them straight back if there not upto scratch by my standards. My point wasnt that FPS was the issue I just saying that in benchmark tests they get quite high in FPS obviously at high load whines that has been the case for a lot of EVGA that I have seen but for the rest of my cards that has not been the case and I have used a large varity of cards Nvidia and ATI (msi,palit,evga,,powercolor,pny,gigabyte,asus,bfg... just to name a few of the brands I have had in the past lol.)

I have had whine from psu's and gpu's from brands such as bfg in the past and also visiontek, asus. I'm loyal to evga because I have never had a card fail, they have the step up program and their warranty and customer service is the best there is. Just my choice though everyone has their own.

I unselected because that was false and inaccurate Information making it not the best answer. I'm sorry if you are offended but that button is there for the community to use as well otherwise it wouldn't be there. Sorry.

That button is not for every member, only the Mods and OP, I can call a Mod here and get that clarified. Only OP should decide ideally what he thinks is the best answer. Or in particular instance, the Mods.

ACX 2.0 is not yet released, the current ACX 1.0 has flawed desgin making it noisy and hotter on 900 series cards. 700 series from EVGA are top notch no doubt, but 900 series ACX 1.0 IS NOT. I can give you end no. of threads where members recommend all other brands but not EVGA for 970/980.
I'm not offended, if you are to learn the rules when a member points out, well and good, otherwise Mods are there to supervise, I need not say much else.

im not here to argue nor did I choose my answer and the best one the OP did not sure if that was the case with your answer and get a mod I don't care. Mods also say once a best answer is chosen to not comment anymore however after only 1 or 2 posts being made and not stating all the pros and cons of the product out there I as a long time toms member feel a best answer needs to be chosen after all info is out not half of the info. Like I said clearly I offended you because now you are threatening to get a mod which is fine I will defend my choice till whatever end it may be. Like I said I didn't do it to offend but if those buttons are only there for the op or the mods then Why are they there for anyone to use? Also the only "problem" or "flaw" is the so called misaligned heat pipes which has already been addressed by evga and the explanation has already been given as to why they are the way they are and their cars running at a max load of 73c is hardly a flawed design when asus and others run at 70-72c. To comment on the fans being "loud" that was by design a bios decision to run the cards at the rpm they run at idle. Now that evga knows people want their cards quieter they are releasing (may already have) a bios update for the card to LoweR the idle rpm speeds of the fans.Again I give helpful information and facts only to help the op in his search for a great gpu. eteknix has the official reply from evga on the "misalignment" of the heat pipes. OP again you wouldn't be choosing a bad card if you chose Msi or asus either of those are top notch cards as well. I just mentioned evga for the stated reasons (Samsung ram, great warranty and cs, honestly a great cooler, and because of the ram great overclocking).

From most reviews I have read mind apparently the best overclocker of all of them is the MSI by apparently quite long way. but as mentioned its not just based on overclocking theres noise, power, overclocking and warranty all to weigh in on these decisions it all comes down to which one of those you care about the most I don't think you can say there is a single 970 that outperforms in each one of those categories.

Bit-tech.net has a nice comparison of the evga asus and Msi. Msi does clock the highest and requires the least amount of voltage raise same as evga where asus required +50mv to clock around the same as the evga. The evga and Msi only required +37mv. Without a doubt the Msi clocks the highest and rightly so they make great cards and their fan setup and implementation is pretty awesome. But there is good info at bit-tech.net.
