My college uses a cyberoam server for internet access and limits all users to 400mb a day. Previously, I could easily set up OpenVPN to bypass that and I still can. However, since last week they have been able to block those who use OpenVPN. I don't understand how they do it. To use internet, I've to give them the mac address of my laptop. Can they use that to see if I use VPN? And what kind of security is it exactly called? And if you're feeling generous, maybe a way to bypass it too! xD!

Yes, they can detect VPN traffic.
No, we won't help you bypass their security protocols.
