So hello guys im new to building computers and i was gonna build a computer next week but that will not happen so why? i saw that when i do 4-way sli the pci-e cards are in this way with my MoBo:16x/8x/8x/8x my mobo is RAMPAGE V EXTREME x99 here are my questions:

1.is there any difference between 16x/16x 2-way SLI,16x/8x/8x 3-way SLI,16x/8x/8x/8x 4-way SLI in performance?
2.should i do 16x/16x or 16x/8x/8x/8x would i get better performance with the first one because of lower speed?
3.Is there any true 4-way SLI 16x PCI-e slot MoBo if no is there a true 3-way one?
4.What card is better for 4-way SLI of 3-way SLI for 3x 1440p displays at 144Hz?
5.what motherboard is better for SLI?
6.Is SLI better or CROSS-FIRE for performance i mean?(AMD Vs NVIDIA)
thanks for all of your help.

1. the more cards you add the more performance you get depending on 1. the game you're running 2. the number of screens you're using and 3. the resolution of which you are using

2. no

3. no and no

4. probably R9 290x x 4 or x3 OR R9 295x2 x2

5. depends if you're looking to overclock, there isn't really one that's good in general for SLI

6. amd cards generally perform better in crossfire at higher resolutions with multiple screens, whereas sli'd nvidia cards perform better for less screens and again high resolutions
