My current build is as follows :

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/FmwsMp

though my heart is set on a 970, Im not sure if my power supply is up to snuff, even though the 970 is quite efficient. That being the case, which graphics card do yall think is the max my system could run?

More about : max card build

I'd say invest another 10-20 dollars for a 650W or 750W PSU (650 for stock 970, 750 for OC 970)

The rub is that I already build this system, and got the PSU at a great price ($30), so I'd rather avoid upgrading the power supply already..

Hi - You can run that system with the Capstone 450 you now have. The key pwr rating is the +12v rail amps
available. The CPU & GPU draw their current from the +12v rail(s).A system with a gtx970 needs 28 +12v amps.
That Capstone has 37 +12v amps(more than any other 450w unit I know of). So, you are good to go!
