A client of mine wants an all-in-one laser printer with form feed. Now, maybe I'm ignorant, but don't basically all printers these days have form feed? Is that such a special feature that only some have it? Isn't form feed just the printer starting at the top of a new page when it reaches the bottom of the previous?

All-in-one usually refers to a fax-scanner-copier-printer and the form-feed would for the scanner-fax-copier functions so the all-in-one can send/scan/copy multi-page documents unattended.

It's the printer starting at the bottom of a new page when told to, instead of just waiting for the previous page to fill up. I can't imagine a printer not having it.

He may be referring to it having a manual feed tray, or running of a continuous feed roll of paper. Don't know.

I thought the same thing, someone somewhere. I can't imagine a printer not having it! I'm just weary because none of the specifications of printers I'm looking at really specify form feed, so I kind of assume it's a standard function of most these days... I just don't want to tell him yes it has it and have it turn out not to have it.

You could simply ask your client exactly what type of form-feed he wants.

But if he bothered specifying that, I would assume he means something not all printers have and in all-in-one units, the document feeder is much more likely to refer to the scanner's document feeder than the printer's paper feeder.
