Ok, so my laptop is slowly coming to its end, bits are breaking, its generally running slower and around next year i would probably be getting a new one. (its 4 years old and has an old i3, 4gb ram 512hdd)
I was also currently thinking of getting an xbox one (am firmly a microsoft guy)...but then looking at its specs, apparently inability to run games at high res, and price of xbl i have been hesitating...
What i was wondering is since i am going to university whether i would be better served building myself a pc that can manage the two, and potentially save some money. i have never built before
i figure i dont need a laptop at uni since i will always be near enough to a pc to stream my office 365 if needs be, plus i have my windows 8.1 tablet for my lecture notes.
Im studying physics maths and computer science so i need something that will be able to comfortably run some basic modelling software, whilst maintaining an ability to game at 1080p with very high settings on the latest games
given a budget of around £550 (not including os since i can pick up 8.1 pro from ms for 25 quid) is this in any way possible?
Also this cannot be a huge unit since i will need to move it every 10 weeks or so, anything reasonably manageable will do
I will be using this pc every day for the next 4 years or so...just incase that makes any difference to parts
Thanks in advance
