hey guys..i have kingston 4GB DDR3 1333Mhz CL9 1.5v
so i decided to buy another 4GB, i bought exactly the same brand, bus speed, Cas Latency and Volt... but after installing it the pc wont boot
i find out that my new 4GB ram is SDIMM 204 pin , while my old one is DIMM 240pin
is that the reason?.. it fitted into my MB although..

my old one is >> KVR13n9s8/4 ...4GB PC3-10600 CL9 240 pin DIMM.
my new one is>>KVR1333D3S9/4G >>4GB PC3-10600 CL9 204 pin SODIMM.

Hi,

First off they are not exactly the same
first is 240 pin and second is 204 pin.
Also make sure your laptop supports 8 gb ram: what's your laptop ?

Try booting just with the new ram

Is the new stick much smaller then the first stick?
Looking up your part numbers you bought a stick of laptop ram, and the original is desktop ram.

i use Desktop, i don't use Laptop .. and my original ram is 240pin DIMM, while the new one is 204pin SODIM..they are the same in everything else.. the new stick is same in size , shape, speed and timings
so why they cannot work together?

P.S, i've tried to boot with the new 204pin Ram and the PC won't boot also

I see.
240pin is Desktop DDR3, and 204pin is for laptops.
What might have happend is that they put the wrong label in your ram box, because the part number is for laptop ram.
Can you find a part number on the ram itself?
If they put the wrong label in the box, who knows what ram stick they gave you.

Is this for by chance an HP desktop, and if so what is the model number? HP a few years ago made computers where the bios was coded to only allow a very short list of hardware to be pluged inot it in attempt to force you to buy all upgrades through HP.
