Sup users,

I know this seems like one of those "MY COMPUUTER IS BROKEN PLS FEEX" type of post but it's really not, it's just that I'm really confused.

I used to have a very low end system (was considered high-end at the time of buy)
It was a intel core 2 duo e*something* (basically a dual-core) cpu with a decent gpu and 2 gb of ddr2 ram. I ran with this system up until i'd say early 2012, then I upgraded to my current system.

It's an i5-3330S 3.2 Ghz Quad-Core (Ivy Bridge), still got my terrible GPU and my OLD Barracuda 5400RPM HDD that seems to be dying (500GB) and got a new Barracuda 7200RPM (1TB) (my os is on this one), completely new MOBO and PSU. I know it's not a high end system but it doesn't have to be for me, my computer still takes around a minute to start up, when I open folders it takes a full second for the folder to open and another full second for the folder contents to appear, start menu sometimes takes up to 2-3 seconds to pop up after being pressed (windows 7 ultimate 64 bit).. And I'm just really confused here as to why this is the case since I pretty much replaced all the stuff that could cause that and it STILL happens! I don't think my old GPU (GT220 250mb) is effecting this in any way and my old dying HDD can't either (right?) because my OS and all my programs are installed on the new HDD and the only reason I have the old one still in is for movie storage and stuff I don't necessarily want taking up unnecessary space on my main one.

I have NOT tried un-pluging my old HDD and completely removing it and testing just with my new HDD nor have I tried without my old GPU..

ANY feedback/help is greatly appreciated! :)

Hello... Look in your device manager... Do you have any YELLOW or RED marks in there?
also how much ram do you have?
Does your OLD HD still have a Windows OS install on it?
How much ram are you using?
How much internet searching has been done with the New hardrive? ( Months/years/weeks )
Do you do any Defraging? or Disk cleaning operations?

First of all, thanks for the reply.
I have no yellow or red markers in my device manager, I have 4 GB of DDR3 1333 ram, on Idle using around 1.5-1.7 GB memory. I'd say about 6-7 months of internet browsing has been done on my new HDD and I have NOT done any defraging yet.
