ubuntu has th option to install alongside windows 7 so windows 7 wont get deleted and you dont have to constantly change drives in the bios as linux will install the boot grub from which you can choose which os to load up.. hope i helped

the first screen you will get after the bios will be the grub boot loader screen from there you can choose to boot to windows or ubuntu

When you install Ubuntu, it should install a bootloader to allow you to select whether you run Windows or Ubuntu. It will not damage the WIndows installation, as long as you keep track of what hard drive you install to.

I would suggest reading up on dual booting. It can be a bit confusing.

My suggestion if you want to make sure you install to the new drive and not erase everything on the old one is to unplug the old windows drive. Install Ubuntu to the only remaining (new) drive. Shutdown plug Windows drive back in. Use bios to boot Ubuntu drive, then reinstall the grub boot loader. Unplugging is unnecessary but you need to MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL TO THE CORRECT drive as it not always obvious unless you have explored all the install options before. I Have two identical drives and I am never 100% sure witch is which but a sharpie and unplugging one means i've never made a mistake.
