Hi,

I've asked my retailer for a system that will provide good home experience (internet + Office applications) as well as a medium Gaming experience (for games such as StarCraft, MineCraft or Witcher), without the need for network gaming. I've set the budget at about 1050 $US (including the 22" monitor).

I'm NOT going to overclock it, so I guess this the i5-4690 is the CPU for me. As for the rest - I'm open for comments/remarks.

This is the offer he gave me:

Thanks in advance for any tips/comments/suggestions!
Eyal.

Hmm, an interesting mix.

I don't think that CPU cooler offers much advantage over the stock cooler. So you can probably skip it.

Memory is cheap, but serviceable. Not sure that is a good hard drive, would have to look it up. Generally stick to recommending Seagate Barracudas and WD Caviar Blue/Black.

Motherboard is risky, might require a BIOS update prior to installing that CPU. An H97 would be advisable.

Not exactly a high end video card.

Hi Eximo,

Thanks a lot for your feedback!!

So I went back to the retailer with your inputs and got this offer:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/R6RDnQ

It looks better now, I think. What I would like to know is:
1. Would a 450W supply be good enough? Or should I go for a 550W one?
2. Does it make much difference to have 1x8GB memory or 2x4GB? Also, you went for the 1866MHz. Is it a big difference?

Again, Thanks a lot for the feedback. You've been great help!
Eyal.

Minor improvements for minor amounts of money. 1600 vs 1866 won't be that noticeable, but the price difference is only about $5-10.

Enermax power supplies aren't exactly known for being high quality. Seems to be a dual rail design that can potentially output 468 Watts at 12V, so they gave it an accurate rating. Your chosen CPU and GPU are fairly low power, shouldn't be any issues running it.

1x8GB leaves room for upgrades, but will have slightly less throughout the dual channel memory configurations. Of course getting a second stick later on is no guarantee that they will get along. That is why they are sold in kits as matched sets.
