I've been reading up on this and I'd like some advice.

I currently have a 27" 1080p monitor and I'm looking to upgrade. I'm trying to decide whether to wait for the new Acer 28" 4k 144hz monitor with G-Sync or get the Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q 1440p monitor. I'm leaning toward the Asus panel because it has the benefit of being available now in addition to supporting 3D gaming. I'm really worried about the odd-duck 1440p resolution, though.

I'm sure my GTX 780 could handle the higher resolution in most gaming instances, but I watch a lot of YouTube and Netflix videos too which are very often 1080p. I'm wondering how much of a sacrifice my daily internet browsing will have to take if I go the 1440 route. Is it worth it?

Other than being pricy, I see no real negatives :)

As far as I understand it, 1440p doesn't scale to 1080p very well. It tends to look blurry...maybe.
