So, I got a second 780 recently, and I ordered an evga pro sli bridge. Both of the cards are the evga gtx 780 ftw version. However, upon plugging it in, hitting, 'repair computer' after windows prompted me to, due to new hardware being detected. I booted up my pc and went in to the nvidia control panel, only to find that it said that I only had one 780. I also checked speccy and it said there was only one. I'd be very grateful if someone could tell me what I may have done wrong, or what could be a solution. I also checked and both of the cards appear to be on and so is the sli bridge (the EVGA pro sli bridge lights up when it works.

Here are my specs.
Amd fx 8350
2 EVGA gtx 780 ftw
8gb or corsair vengeance ram
ASROCK 990fx extreme 9
EVGA 1000W psu
and a 5 port usb 3.0 expansion in a pci-16x slot, if that helps

Are your monitors only plugged into both cards? SLI mode tends to act funny when your monitors are plugged into both cards. Try plugging them up into one card (generally the one closest to the CPU socket).

Oh and sometimes you have to reinstall your drivers when you install a crossfire or SLI setup for the first time.

A bit of a unique set up you have though. Can't say I've ever heard of someone doing a 780 SLI on AM3+ considering it doesn't have any PCI-E 3.0 slots.

I'm waiting eagerly for AMD to rise up to their former glory as ever since Sandy Bridge AMD hasn't been able to compete with Intel in the high end space. The fact that X79 remained the most powerful platform for almost half a decade is a testament to that. (until X99 came out this past August, which again was by Intel)

So, I used driver sweeper and cleared my drivers, and then I reinstalled 335.23, and upon booting I discovered that the second 780 was detected, however, when I go into the nvidia control panel, I don't get the option to enable it, but it says that there are two.

Can you open up Windows device manager and expand display adapters. From there see if Windows is recognizing both 780s, also make sure neither one has a yellow question/exclamation mark. If you see a yellow questions/exclamation mark most likely it's a code 43 (Windows stopped the device). I would suggest installing the latest Nvidia drivers: http://www.evga.com/support/download/. If only one video card is seen, I would verify the power cables are plugged into video card and try reseating back into the PCI-E slot. If the issue continues try the known working video card by itself in the secondary PCI-E slot to see the results.

Post back with your results

Looks like you posted an update as I was typing :) . Having both video cards seen is a good sign. To confirm you have the bridge attached and in the Nvidia control panel you have the option to enable Maximize 3D Performance.

I downloaded the new driver, and it still detected the other 780, but I still do not have the option to maximize 3d performance, the light on the bridge is still on, could it be a defective bridge?

It's very rare for these bridge to be defective. Do you have a spare to test with? Or can you try a different PCI-E slot configuration on your motherboard?

I switched up the configuration and had to change the bridge that I was using to the 3-way sli bridge that came with the mobo and it actually worked, unfortunately, I will have to send back the 2 way bridge from EVGA, though I will most likely order the 3-way bridge, mainly because of the cool LED. Thanks a lot for your help

Just re-read this thread and realized that Joey was an EVGA rep . w.

I've never bought an EVGA card before but after seeing this small gem of a thread I am moved to try out one now. Very impressed.
