i do know what im doing, im sure i can do it as ive watched tons of videos and it seems pretty straight forward as ive been doing it at college, its just my specs at home ive spent quite a lot of money on them so i was panicing

any tips anyone can give me! i have a lot of surface to build on and an anti static wristband + mat.

Do things systematically. I'd recommend you build your Pc outside of the case to check everything is working. The motherboard box is a good anti-static workspace. Also I'd recommend that you use a magnetic headed screwdriver, as screws inside of your case can really mess things up. Also when you are screwing something in, screw things in diagonally. You should NEVER under ANY circumstance screw something in completely without the other screws being screwed in slightly, or you could risk warping your components. Take your time to plan out your cables and look at your routing options. Plan out what needs doing so you don't miss out anything. Also have fun, and relax.
Hope I helped and I wish you many happy hours of great gaming in the future ;)

I would not use the anti-static band. I have seen them do more harm than good. Computer parts are VERY resilient to static, MUCH more than in the past. People like to blow this issue WAY out of proportion. I do my builds on carpet wearing socks and I have never once had an issue. People treat it like brain surgery, but it is more like legos. Some things WILL take some force to connect/plug in.

okay then, btw i have not got my gpu yet as im waiting for gtx 980 in uk, so cna i use onboard graphics
and when you say "make sure everything is working" do you mean an outside boot? where i plug in power supply etc and boot pc with monitor to make sure it beeps and works? and i have to use screw driver and touch the ports to make it turn on? or just install outside and put in.

^ Yes. It makes any problems with components way easier. Also keep the little plastic cpu cover that came on the motherboard, as if there are any problems with the mobo the manufacturer will need it to replace your defective motherboard. Also use a screwdriver with a magnetic head so you don't drop any screws into the case, as it can seriously hurt your components. Hope I was of use. Just out of interest by the way what are the specs? ;)
