Basically we already had this motherboard in the machine but decided to update BIOS, sadly it didn't seem to go well as afterwards the motherboard would never get to BIOS again.

Then we decided to get a new motherboard all together as the one we had actually had issues. Found one on Ebay, used but in great condition. Can't remember which BIOS version it's running but for whatever odd reason she'll only start on the third try of turning it on? It's really aggravating because you can't really turn it off without doing all that and god forbid windows had updates.

Either way, all help appreciated.

Specifications:

Motherboard: Tyan Thunder K8WE S2895UA2NRF

First have you tried to reset the cmos. That could of saved your first board maybe. Because if you had overclocked anything or nt set the bis to stock settings it could of messed up the update and just needed a reset.

have you tried a out of case test? with the bare min like cpu 1 stick of ram. video card if you don't have on board graphics.
It is possible your new motherboard may not play well with your memory have you checked the compatibility list?
Another thing is your mobo is screwed or needs a bios update.

Thanks for the response, glad people still remember this board haha.

Yes, on the first board we tried everything and, actually, just remembered the issue was that it had actually died, that's why we got a new board. When we got the board we also got a new BIOS chip and tried to update the BIOS on the new board but ended up screwing the BIOS chip, board was still okay. We took the BIOS chip from the motherboard before and used it in this one, as it was the same board.

Haven't tried out an out case test but I could really guarantee that it's not the memory and I couldn't see how the CPU is affecting it, but I understand that you need to do so to test and that it could be anything causing it. We did do a test though with just 1 stick of memory and both CPU's in but still nothing.

Also, is it possible to try the BIOS update again or is really that high of a chance of failure? I looked it up but no one had a good straight answer.

Again any and all help appreciated and thanks fore the responses.

What method are you using to update the bios. Also do you have another power supply you can try.
Dont try to update the bios atm. you may have a power supply problem and it could be causing your updates to the bios to maybe corrupt.

Can't be the PSU because it had a nice 1200W Enermax before but we got a new machine to replace it, sadly I can't get to it this weekend as it's at my work and I planned on donating it there because I would be using it and no reason to sell it or use it for parts, still works great. Anyways, we kept the 1200W for our new machine and used that new 775W to power it now.

We used an USB Floppy Disk Drive by Sabrent which did work actually, saw the whole process go by just without the happy ending lol.

Also, GPU is a Nvidia Reference Quadro FX 5500 and I know asking and not being there seems silly but I want to know ahead of time what I can do when I get back on Monday.

Well if your confident its not your power supply and your mem passes the test. it would seem your mobo is ether dying or it needs some kind of bio's update. It is likely you got sold a broken motherboard off ebay its not un herd of.

Just to reply back to this thread again it would seem it probably is a BIOS update needed because everything runs fine otherwise, the only other thing I can think of is that the BIOS chip from the last motherboard that we had is slightly different from this one. Our old motherboard was a A2NRF this is a UA2NRF, basically it's using a BIOS chip form a motherboard that didn't have the SCSI capability BUT, that is the only difference but it makes sense as maybe the Tyan is trying to figure out that missing piece? I'm not sure though, it's my only explanation.

Anyways, I will post back here once we try to update this BIOS again, if it all goes well I have a 100% feeling it should be fine because in the change-log of the fixes they did it was a lot of issues they fixed and alot of them have to do with the RAID, SCSI, and SATA issueas the board had, never ran into those but either way, seems like the solid answer it's just I hope it goes well.

Best case scenario I buy a pre-loaded BIOS chip off Ebay, guy sells them and last time we tried it but it never worked. If anyone has performed a BIOS upgrade or BIOS chip replacement PLEASE tell me as the instructions I've found are extremely vague. When we did put in the new BIOS chip I believe we didn't move the jumpers or CMOS chip reset, basically like what do you have to do step by step to replace a BIOS chip?

Again, thanks for the reply's. Any and all help appreciated.

Mine does that occasionally.
I figured it was the bios on my ATI HD 4800, and quite possibly my bios battery.
That is where I will start when it gets too annoying- R&R the bios battery
