Hi, i have a toshiba laptop hard drive that failed all of a sudden. According to the report of a disk test, It has (supposedly) almost 100% of bad sectors. I cant format the disk and when i check the disk with chkdsk tool goes into a cyclic process (never ends). However, i was able to recover all my files with testdisk 7.0 and recover some more with easeus partition recovery!!! Does this make any sense???. (Not at all to me)

Can somebody explain me what the heck is wrong with my hard drive please?
This thing is getting on my nerves!!

Thanks in advance!!

Solution
Toshiba drives have worst failure rate in the industry i replace at least 8 a week in laptops best thing to do is just replace the hard drive.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your issue. It is good, though, that you managed to recover all your data.
What I can suggest is that you go to the manufacturer's website and find the tool which can test the HDD for bad sectors. If the test shows there is a high number of bad sectors on the drive, it is highly recommended that you don't store any valuable information on it any longer or, even better, get a new one. Once bad sectors are detected on a drive, the possibility of it failing rises.
