So I own a FXA890-GD70 MOBO. I bought it with the expectation that I would be able to upgrade my cpu later on. Current I am running the AMI BIOS 1.9. which made the mobo AM3+ compatible. This is not the most up to date bios. The 1.15 bios is the latest. It came out on 31 October 2012. It does not look like MSI will be doing anymore support for the board.

Does anyone know if my board will be able to run the FX-9590 CPU?

Solution
Your choices for the 9590:

ASRock 990FX Extreme9
Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z
Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0
Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 R4.0
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5
Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD7
MSI 990FXA-GD80V2

Warning: This power draw of this CPU is almost twice that of the average CPU. Due to this, AMD recommends using at minimum a 1000W power supply. For cooling, AMD recommends using either either closed loop liquid cooling or full system liquid cooling.

Good info, Extreme Air coolers can also suffice if you wish to avoid liquid cooling. I.e.

Noctua NH-D15

Noctua NH-D14

Thermalright Silver arrow SB-E/Extreme

BeQuiet Dark rock PRO 3

Deepcool Gamer Storm Assassin (lower end of extreme)

Cryorig R1 Ultimate

Those would be my Pick.

I have an H-70 for cooling and a 650W power supply. It looks like I may have to upgrade.

I called the guys at Fry's and they said that my MOBO would support the chip. Although I am considering going a step down to the 8350 or 8320.

I just found out the hard way that my board will not support the 8320. I bought and installed one last Sunday. The computer would not work. My computer screen was just blank. This was after being told by the retards at Fry's that an 8300 series chip would work. I was suspicious when they told me that because MSI's website says otherwise. I am looking to upgrade my computer. I ordered an 8150 from Frys and it should be here on Wednesday. I am looking forward to see if it works. I have read reports of some people having trouble getting even the named supported chips to run on the board. I am keeping my fingers crossed.
