I live in college apts and type of internet i have is where i plug one end of the ethernet cord into the wall and the other into my computer or my router. When i plug into my computer it works, but the router doesn't and says "no internet access". Which is weird because it worked for a month and year ago when i was here.

My router is sort of like a modem/router from att but i have timewarner

Is the internet service that you've been provided Dynamic IP (DCHP)? If so you might need to set that up in the router. Plug the router internet into the router and a cable from the router to your PC, then on your PC try to connect to your router's IP address in your browser(Usually written under the router e.g: 192.168.0.1). Naviguate into Network settings and see if you do something there.

You need to check with the IT Dept of the college. They will let you know if you can use the router, and if so let you know how to set it up so it is secure.

I have done that but the router says," there is no dsl connection ". how can that be with the internet uses Ethernet instead of dsl. Also it works when i hook the wire directly to wall to my computer.
