SPECS

CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955
MOBO: MSi 870A-G55
RAM: Corsair XMS3 8GB (2gb x 4)
GFX: Sapphire 7870 GHz Edition
OS: Windows 8.1
(ask if you need more)

My issue is only something that has popped up recently. When i leave my computer on for an extended period of time, it will just shutoff for no reason, no matter if it is idle or if i am using it. The monitor will go black but the power light will still be on and the CPU light on the front of my case will begin to flash and no keyboard or mouse input will bring back the system. The power button does nothing to bring it back and i am required to flip the switch on my PSU to shut it off. I have checked each RAM stick individually for errors, none were found. Did a full virus scan and none were found. The strangest thing is when it happens once, if i restart the system sometimes it will be fine again for an hour or so, sometimes it will not turn on and will instead resume flashing the CPU light. I have also cleared the CMOS so i am out of ideas of what the problem is. Any help would be appreciated and a mod can move this to another section if they feel the need to.

I have not overclocked this system, a little afraid to honestly and no i ran each stick individually through the windows memory error checker. I will try memtest x86 tomorrow and see what happens, little worried it wont last for a full 8 hours though.

well if it dosent last 8 hours and you get one memory error and it should show. because memtest 86 runs with out windows interfering. its safe to say you need to replace your ram. But its highly unlikely they are both bad so if you get a error. try testing them one at a time so you can find he bad egg

sad part is 2 of the 4 sticks are original to the system, i built it about 4 or 5 years ago. I upgraded it with the other 2 to a total 8gb this summer so about 2 months ago and now ive been having this problem only just now, not when i bought the new sitcks. I will give it a shot tomorrow.

do you have another power supply to run the system with for a while ? too see if it still is happening ? Your psu could be failing also." The system sometimes dosent turn on" is normally a psu problem.

Ummm, well its the a light on the front of my case, i have an NZXT Lexa S and its a light that i didnt even know could flash i thought it was just a standard light that just sat there being pretty. the usual green HDD light is below this long light and it doesnt flash at all when this happens.

in the video the first light i point at is my HDD light and the large one flashing i guess is the power indicator. before now i have never seen it flash like that before.

Are you sure you have your power led plugged in on the correct positive and neg ? have you tried disconnecting that light which could very well be the power led. Its possible it has a short in it. Or this could jsut be another example of you having a dieing power supply.
