Im trying to decide on a motherboard. im very inexperienced with computer building, this is my first build infact.

im getting a i7 4790k with 970 sli and 2133 ram 16gb. I stream and Game with a little video editing.

My friend told me to check out http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130770&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130768&cm_re=gaming_7_msi-_-13-130-768-_-Product

idk what the difference is

I really dont understand what the specs are saying. can you recommend a awesome gaming/streaming MB for 140-180$

with good price/performance/features. i use wifi btw idk if that matters.
If it combos with the i7 that be even better:D

also is it good to match MBs with gpus like msi MB with MSI gtx 970 or does it make no difference?

Solution
I'd go with the Asus Z97-A or their Z97 Pro, both are great mobos, OC well, very good BIOS. For just slightly more there's the Asus Hero (my personal choice, mine in sig)

1)The more expensive one has :
-2 extra USB 3.0 ports
-2 HDMIs and Display port instead of 1 DVI, D-SUB and HDMI (all outputs for video)
-2 more SATA 6GB/s ports

2)Pairing the same brand of motherboard, graphics card etc. Usually has no effect on performance as far as I know.

If you were to choose between, it all depends if you want more ports and such.

Im just letting you know to stream some heavy cpu type games you will have too prob get a separate streaming computer. But it is still possible with using way higher bit rates and limiting your viewer ship due to internet connections inless your partnered and have different settings. I know this is out of your price range but i think its cool idea msi has made a new mother board that has a stream processor on it. http://game.msi.com/us/product/motherboard/x99-gaming
Now im not sure and highly doubt that it will be any better then using a aver media card. meaning you still will have to use one of the way better codecs provided in xplit or the other opensource one cant remember the name. But i have yet to try the new one on the msi board.
I would def go for the first link i had that board on my last build and its a solid board in my opinion.
And there isn't much difference between the 2. accept the gaming 7 may have a led qr code thing and some buttons on the board the 5 dose not.

SATA 6GB/s ports are for connecting hard drives, DVD burners and SSDs to your motherboard. Both of the motherboard you have listed can both SLI. The first one you linked has a mSATA port, 2 more SATA 6GB/s ports and it seems to support RAID hard drive configurations. However in the specifications it has a 2 less USB 2.0 ports. Anyways both of these motherboard should perform the same since they don't have any effect on performance. The choice is up to you if you want more expandability in the future. Oh and the connectors for Display on the motherboard you probably won't be using since you'll have your monitors plugged into the Graphics card

Hmm between the msi-z97 gaming 5 and the asus-z97a
which would be better performance/features for streaming/gaming in your opinions? msi has some streaming feature idk if its all that good or not?

1150 mobos are limited by the available number of PCI-E slots so SLI (2 card is restricted to x8 with two cards, unless you go to a mobo w/ a PLX chip, something like the Asus Z97 WS. The Z97 would be my choice, to be honest I won't touch MSI mobos for client builds due to their poor QC, on rigs I get trouble calls on, there are more MSI mobos, than any 2 other manufacturers put together

As was mentioned earlier, there's a limitation of PCI-E lanes with the 1150 - you are limited to Dual x8 UNLESS you go to a mobo with PLX like the Z97 WS - if you want 'true' dual x16 need to change over to the 2011 socket or 2011-V3 which is much more expensive

It's a solid board i have herd though to replace the cmos battery because some die really fast on one of the boards that has the heat shield from asus i think it was maxiumus but there so cheap it will save you from taking everything out to replace it. and its also no on every board its just on some.

I haven't read all the posts in this thread but have you considered a i7 5820k Hex core 15MB + X99 Motherboard + DDR4 Ram. It is cheaper then expected but will be over what your current option is, what you choose will determine that.

The i7 5820k is roughly $390-420

Motherboard - ASRock X99 (intels flagship chipset) Extreme3 $230 Extreme4 $280 (prices vary)

Ram - $400 for 16GB 4X4 GB 2133Mhz. (again, prices vary)

Just a consideration for a worthwhile PC if you choose to invest. This processor has an extra 12 lanes of bandwidth @ 28 compared to the i7 4790k's 16 but the i7 5930k/4930k/5960x/4960X have 40 lanes of bandwidth, best for multiple cards.
