just bought a new i54690k switched from fx 8350

are these temps normal with a h60 cooler?

seems like intel run hotter than amd

Seems about right to me. Is it OC'd or stock?

Those temps are normal with a stock cooler, you should get better temps. Is your cpu at stock speeds?

Edit: I dont know what the hell i was looking at, 56°C is pretty cool.

Around 50-55C is normal for the crappy H60. In this price segment - air cooling always wins in performance / noise/ price ratio against AIO water units.

Yep those are normal temps as the others have said the reason the 8350 gave you lower temps is based on the way the chip tells you the temp. The Intel temp is absolute temp. The AMD temp was an offset basically if it read say 20C it is actually 20C + ?Offset this makes it a bit hard to determine the real temp since it could be 32C or 40C for all we know.

Pretty good temps - were you running a stress test?

I also noticed you max vid core voltage is very low

I suggest you try AIDA 64 for testing because counter strike isn't very demanding...

The CPU voltage was low because you must have set the voltage to adaptive which is good...

If you cpu can run on that voltage under a stress test like Aida 64, you have a really good cpu...

no i was just playing csgo for 20 minuetes.

should my graphics card votage be higher?

all i did was put it in. ^^

No. VID Core Voltage is for your processor. The reason it is so low, most likely, is because you have your power profile either set to Power Saver or Balanced. Am i correct?

I suggest you use AIDA 64 and because Counter strike isn't very demanding for your cpu....

If your cpu can run full speed with such a low voltage than you have a decent cpu.

My guess is Aida 64 will push your temps to around 70 degrees and voltage to about 1.2...

Use Prime 95 and use a stress test with large FTTs. This will produce maximum heat. If you cross over 70C - then maybe you need to re-seat the cooler with new thermal paste.

Some industry professionals are suggesting to avoid prime 95 for Haswell.

Try running OCCT or one of the other suggested tests. Prime95 is not primarily for stress testing, but rather searching for Mersenne primes. Thus, they added AVX2 (I believe that is the correct acronym) instructions to boost performance on Haswell CPU's. Boost in performance means boost in heat, and thus they will go up pretty high. I have an i7 4790k at 4.4Ghz with idle temps of around 40C, but I get about 70C on prime95. However, I have an NHD-15 air cooler with 3 fans, so the cooling power is quite high, and that 70C was running all fans at max. Honestly, as long as your computer is doing what you need it to do, I'd just leave it be. If your not passing 70C while gaming, you're fine.

Your idle temps are a little bit high for a NHD-15 unless your room temperature is high...

Do you have a L3 or L4 batch?

L4 batch. I was running that on High Performance. When I change my profile to balanced I get lower idle temps (avg 31). Seems smarter to use Balanced, since I don't need 4.4Ghz while checking my e-mail xD.

On a side note, if anyone has any issues looking at their computer at night, check out f.lux (this is a personal recommendation, not an advertisement). It really does help ease stress on the eyes during night time.
