My cousin has just recently finished building a pc and we installed windows 8 on it.
BUT.
The computer has on board graphics with the intel pentium but we want to use a PCI GPU
Whenever the graphics card is installed into the computer, nothing shows on the monitor.

We checked the BIOS and other settings and we are now lost

Couple basics things to start with

1.- Did you plug the monitor cable to the new video card or the on board graphics/mobo?
(on board video) Try pluging it into the GPU
(PCIE GPU) try plugging into the on board video and in the bios tell the motherboard to use the PCIE card first

2.- Power cables connected correctly?
This is something that can be easily overlooked

3.-Power Supply insufficient - Post the model and power specifications and the GPU you are powering

Check all the above first
