I'm looking to buy something that I can just watch videos and web surf on. Portability is not that important neither is productivity, but, size is. So, any suggestions should I buy the new Toshiba Chromebook 2 with IPS Display 1080p or the NVIDIA Shield Tablet? Oh, and I don't play games either I'm just into music and videos and web surfing and since Google allows the ability to upload music from a Chromebook that might be a plus. And I absolutely don't need a Laptop or Desktop due to the fact I really have no use for those features. I've heard the NVIDIA Shield Tablet is also great for videos too so let me know what every one thinks out there.

I would say for you the chromebook is the best. It should have a bigger screen and has a keyboard that makes surfing the web very easy. Plus since you don't do much with your laptop, it should have a better battery life than the shield.

The shield is more designed for gaming and can be used to watch videos but it is heavy.

The only problem with the chromebook is that most things you want to do has to be online. This may not be an issue if you are using this mainly at home but will be an issue if you are using this on the go and want access to the internet.
The major difference in a Chromebook and a tablet - the built in keyboard and a bit more internal storage. The tablet will allow you to surf the web, view videos and listen to music, but you will be somewhat limited to the amount of storage you have internally (you can buy external storage like a router-based storage device). That is the "quick and dirty" differences.....

The Nvidia Shield looks nice - the only drawback - 32 GB (WiFi+4G LTE) / 16 GB (WiFi-only) . A Chromebook may come with quite a bit larger internal storage....If you have a PC for storage - I would say the big advantage goes to the Nvidia Shield....

No PC all my music is backed up on an External Hard Drive and I have videos that I converted using Aimersoft that I put on a SD Card. Most of all my music is stored in the cloud also.

AS for me, I am using Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.10.1 Tablet. I love the design, the features. It is works good. Great battery, the only issue I have is minor touch pad issues. But in general I love it.
